Results of the Club International Speech contest;
Winner - Andrew Y. - Toast Monsters
Runner up - Edwin L. - Be the top 3%
We only had three contestants for the international speech contest and they were all guys. I hope we can entice some of the lady members to enter the next round of club competitions.
Andrew (pictured above with Eng Wah, the chief judge) was in good form and spoke about overbearing speakers at weddings stealing the thunder from the bride. His suggestion: be sincere and low-key, if asked to speak at a wedding, and let the bride be the centre of attention. Good job Andrew.
Results of the Club Table Topics Contest;
Winner: Ben F.
Runner-up: Frances L.
The table topics question was: where will your HK$6000 end up. We had seven contestants and got lots of creative answers. Ben prevailed though and Frances was a close second.
Again, we had lots of guests - 13 this meeting.
Club Humorous and Evaluation contests will be held later in the year. Now is a good time to start getting ready for these. Good luck and see you at the next meeting.
