The Year-end Delight

The meeting on 19 Dec 11 was our last regular meeting in 2011. In the evening, we celebrated Christmas by decorating the meeting with a party right after our speakers' deliveries. At the middle of the term 2011-12, we also conducted an induction ceremony for our new members. We believed the foundation maintained by our seasoned members and the energy poured by our new blood would extend the strength of our club through the year transition. The venue was rife with joy and everyone was immersed in the speeches, foods, wine and music.

In the prepared speech section, Vincent, our ice breaker, shared his study-alone experience in UK and demonstrated how to kill butterflies in the stomach. Alice, who delivered her CC Manual Project 2, advised us on a prudent way of travel. Ai Ai, the best prepared speech speaker, taught us about “Second Wind”, which was a human phenomenon we might not be aware of but enjoyed sometimes in the fights during our lives. The “Second Wind” was further elevated by Edwin, the best evaluator, in his humorous evaluation in the evaluation section. In the table topic session, Michael, the best table topic speaker who was named “The Sophisticated”, told us about his gift obsession and travel obsession in the festival. At the night, it was our pleasure to invite Yingdan Liu, the District 85 Governor last year, to be our General Evaluator.

In the induction ceremony for our new members, the process affirmed not only their membership but also their importance in our club. People are always the most valuable assets in our family. Amid the cheerful atmosphere, we wished all of our members who were unable to join us on the date a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to enjoying public speeches with you in 2012.
