Congratulations!
Today marks an important milestone for the Hong Kong Toastmasters Club. It our big 55th birthday. It also represents a significant meaning to the Asian region because the HK Toastmaster is the first club established in Asia back to 55 years ago.
During the past half decade, the club played a key role in bridging the gap in communication excellence. This double 5 did not come easy. It involved tremendous hard work, persistence and devotion from the club executives and members. Despite rain or shine the meetings were never cancelled. The club certainly had its ups and downs, but I am very proud to say that we are still here and we will continue for many years to come.
Communication is so vital in this highly techno, virtual and lifeless society. The role of the HK Toastmaster club will not disappear. It will only intensify. While we are celebrating, the club should take a moment and question whether the right tools or methods are being used to differentiate the present situation from the past. Toastmasters need to be innovative and adapt with time to be sustainable.
I would like to applaud the outstanding contributions the club has done for our community. Please continue the excellent work.
