We had a great meeting with the Oasis Toastmasters Club on Monday (11 Jan). It was full house and we had alot of guests.
It was great to have learnt from Cecilia (HK) on tips for helping children learn English. Cecilia also provided us with the website http://lumberlog.multiply.com/ for anyone interested in this subject. I agreed with her evaluator, Aaron that if our parents had known all these tips when we were children, our standard of English would be much higher!
We also have to thank Michael (HK) for illustrating what "the devil is in the details" was by sharing with us his experience in a bathroom when he was travelling.
I like the ice breaking speech delivered by Cherry (Oasis). Her transition from her childhood dream to her current occupation, and then from her occupation to her family were smooth and natural. She did a really good introduction.
Although Edwin prepared his table topic questions right before the meeting, the session went smoothly. I was particularly impressed by a table topic speaker, Angela (Oasis) who was able to use acronym NEW to express her new year wishes.
On the evaluation side, as usual, Tina (HK) delivered her table topic evaluation humorously. She started by making an overall comment on all the table topic speakers and then went into the details for each individual.
I like Asta's creative presentation of an Ah counter's report. She drew a plant having flowers of different colours to show number of unnecessary sounds made by different speakers.
