Meyer Yeung was a former HKTMC member. She now works for Bayer HealthCare as a Medical Affairs Associate. Bayer holds staff lunch meetings periodically. Meyer took the opportunity to promote Toastmaster clubs in Hong Kong. Bayer also considers developing a TM club for the company staff for individual betterment.
Meyer invited HKTMC (represented by: Arthur Ting, Terence Kam and Wendy Chan) and HK Mandarin Club to join Bayer’s staff luncheon on June 25, 2009. Their office was at Shui On Centre in Wanchai. The purpose of the luncheon was to arouse Bayer’s staffs’ interest in becoming toastmasters.
At the luncheon, both Arthur and Terence talked about their experiences as a HKTM and the benefits they gained. Wendy talked about the 5A's of being a Toastmaster (Acceptance, Adaptability, Accountability, Acknowledgment, Achievement). Each member spoke for 5 minutes. Wendy, as HKTMC's VPPR had the privilege of speaking for an additional 3 minutes to promote HKTMC.
The staffs were very positive of our sharing. Eddie Lam, Bayer's Business Unit Manager, who was responsible to set up a TM Club for Bayer indicated that he would come to visit our meeting in September.
For those of us who had participated in the luncheon, we all thought it was a worthwhile event. At the time of writing this brief, Wendy received an email from Bayer as their follow-up of setting up a TM club.
