Once again we had a full-house meeting last night with over 14 guests. We all had an enjoyable night!
In the prepared speech session, Gilbert disclosed to us his family business, family details and his sailing experience by relating them to a trident tiger and a greener dragon. Michael reminded that we need to consider the impact, probability, downside and upside of the outcome before we take a risk. According to Ai Ai, if we want to unleash the secret power within ourselves, we can try out firewalking but make sure we know what type of fire we are walking on before that.
All our evaluators were able to give constructive feedback to our speakers. In the table topic session, some speakers shared with us the attributes of being a honest person. We were also aware that we should confess for making a lie as opposed to concealing it.
We haven't had the new members' induction session for some months and a total of 9 new members were inducted last night. We also gave out the Adam Atkin's award of HKD2,000 to Frances Lam for competing in the Division Table Topic contest and finally she won the 3rd place. The purpose of the Adam Atkin's award is to reward members who can compete at the division level or above as we believe that joining contests can help us improve our communication skills tremendously. Therefore, we always encourage our members to participate in any public speaking contests.
Don't forget that we have the presidential election in our next meeting (10/5). Both Ai Ai Ong and Andrew Yeung will run for the presidency. It will be a fun, meaningful and exciting night. Do show up to cast your vote!
